If you will be using more than one PC in your store, then you must also have a local area network (LAN). We strongly recommend getting a local computer technician to setup your network to ensure that it is both secure and properly functioning. We recommend that you get an electrician or computer technician to install Cat5 or better Ethernet cabling. Ensure that your network cards match the speed of your network infrastructure. We recommend a 1 GB network of Cat5 or better.
If you plan to use wireless networking, contact The Edge Sales to use The Edge SQL Server. If you are running The Edge MS Access Database version, wireless networks are not suitable and may cause database problems. They should be avoided with the single exception being the use of a wirelessly connected laptop to perform physical inventory as this is not a data intensive process.
